James E Staley (Chief Executive 2015-)

James E Staley (known as Jes) was announced as the new Chief Executive of Barclays on 28 October 2015, taking up the post with effect from 1 December. An American, he had worked at J P Morgan for over 30 years, initially as a commercial banker, and later advancing to the leadership of major businesses involving Equities, Private Banking and Asset Management. He ultimately headed the company’s Global Investment Bank, before leaving to become Managing Partner of BlueMountain Capital.
