Burroughs TC500
Barclays opened the first bank computer centre in the UK in 1961. This Burroughs TC500 was the computer terminal that went in to the branches, enabling them to feed information about customers' accounts to the central computer. This was the first time that information about customers' accounts was available anywhere other than at their branch, and was a massive step forward in the development of modern banking.
