
Graduate recruitment
Barclays introduced systematic graduate recruitment in 1968, a modernised version of the previous 'special list' system, designed to capture men from a wider range of graduates. In theory, women could also be recruited in this way, though social and economic factors at large meant that few women applied, and senior female executives were still many years in the future in the banking world.
