
Mary Baker: third annual address to women in banking
Mary Baker became the first female Director of Barclays Bank UK on 1 January 1983. At the time, 65 per cent of Barclays colleagues were women and Mary worked hard to promote equal opportunities. In 1988, Mary became a Director of Barclays PLC, a role she held until her retirement in 2000.
