Mechanised Banks
A drawing by Leeson Rowbotham published in the staff magazine Spread Eagle. There was much scepticism surrounding the introduction of supposedly labour-saving accounting machines when Barclays started to install them in larger branches during the Interwar period. Mr. Rowbotham produced much work of this kind for Spread Eagle. He worked in branches along the south coast in the 1930s and 1940s and was branch manager at Portslade and West Hove.
