The sign of the black spread eagle

This sign is one of the earliest examples of corporate branding in the archives. This example comes from our branch in Richmond, but an example of it on a branch can be seen on the photograph of Neath, The Parade in 1952. This sign was installed on only a few branches before making way for the more common 'shield' design that was to stay in use well in to the 1970s.
