Barclays Bank of California

This bank was incorporated locally in 1965 as a subsidiary of Barclays Bank (DCO), with a single branch in San Francisco. A branch in Los Angeles followed within the year and expansion continued with the purchase of the Independent Bank and First Valley Bank. The business was almost entirely local, and in 1988 it was sold to Wells Fargo.
