Barclays Bank UK

Barclays Bank UK was created as a group subsidiary company, as part of the reorganisation of the Barclays Group in 1971-1972, in order to manage the UK banking business, with its own management board, in effect doing much of the management hitherto undertaken by the board of Barclays Bank Ltd; its role was 'reduced very considerably' at the group reorganisation effected on 1 January 1985 ('one bank,') becoming a monitoring and advisory body to the group board until its formal dissolution at the end of 1987.
