Batten, Carne and Carnes Banking Co Ltd, Penzance

Otherwise known as Batten and Co, or Oxnam, Batten and Co, this early Cornwall bank was founded in 1795 by three local merchants: John Batten, William Carne and Richard Oxnam. The firm was converted into a joint stock company in 1890 and six years later was acquired by Bolitho, Williams, Foster, Coode, Grylls and Co Ltd.
