Day and Co, (Norwich and Swaffham Bank)

According to 'Annals of an East Anglian Bank' (written by W Bidwell in 1900), Messrs Starling, Day and Son opened in 1806 at Pottergate Street in Norwich. There seems to be some evidence that a bank called Day, Dalton and Day existed as early as 1796 and this may have been the forerunner of the Norwich and Swaffham Bank. The bank failed during the financial crisis in 1825.
