Eland and Eland, Thrapston
Stephen Eaton opened this bank in 1810 and took as his partner George Eland, draper, also of Thrapston. When Eaton left to join Eaton and Cayley, George Eland took into partnership another local draper, William Yorke. A branch was opened at Kettering. After the death of William Yorke, the business was carried on by the Eland family until 1888 when financial difficulties led to an offer by the Stamford, Spalding and Boston Bank to pay creditors 15 shillings in the pound (75%) and take over the business.
