John Wakefield, Kendal

John Wakefield established a bank in Kendal on 1 January 1788. He was a Quaker and an entrepreneur, mainly engaged in the cloth trade. In 1840 this bank amalgamated with Maude, Wilson and Crewdsons Bank.
