Barclays' presence in Ireland was first established through the introduction of Barclaycard in 1967. Following this, Barclays Bank International then opened a corporate finance branch in Dublin at St Stephen's Green in 1978. Barclays Bank International went on to establish its own subsidiary, Barclays Commerical Bank, and by 1984, had three branches in Dublin, and others in Cork, Limerick and Waterford. Services available at these branches included Moneyfund, a demand deposit account with a cheque book, a product unique to Ireland. However, by 1987, this retail network had been closed. In 2007, a flagship office was opened by Barclays Bank Ireland on Hatch Street, Dublin, with Premier Banking launched in the country in the same year. In 2011, a new office was opened by Barclays Corporate. All information is correct as of August 2015.
