In 1964, Barclays Bank (Dominion, Colonial & Overseas) acquired a one third share in the Bank of London and Montrèal (BOLAM) which operated in the West Indies, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Venezuela. By 1967, BOLAM also operated in Mexico. However, this share was sold to Lloyds in 1970. Five years later in 1975, Barclays Bank International opened a representative's office within the country, which later evolved into the present Barclays Capital office. During the 1970s and 1980s, the Bank's activities in the region were grouped under the Caribbean, Latin and South America (CARLA) business line. In 2006, Barclays Capital was locally incorporated into the investment bank Barclays Bank Mexico, alongside broker dealer Barclays Capital Casa de Bolsa. Following this, in 2007, Barclays Global Investors launched the first family of domestic iShares (exchange traded funds) on Mexico's stock exchange, the Bolsa Mexicana del Valores. Also in 2007, a ceremony was held in Mexico City to celebrate the opening of Barclays Bank Mexico, an investment bank, and broker-dealer, Barclays Capital Casa de Bolsa. All information is correct as of August 2015.
