In 1974, a representative's office was established at Legaspi Village in Rizal, and made Barclays the first British bank to open an office in the Philippines. Barclays Bank International Ltd was then granted an offshore banking licence in 1976, following legislative changes allowing for foreign investment, and opened an office in Manilla in 1977. Barclays Wealth currently operates within the country. All information is correct as of August 2015.
