In 1988, a representative's office was opened in Bangkok, followed in 1990 by the establishment of an office by Barclays de Zoete Wedd. However, by the late 1990s, these offices were closed. In 2001, Barclays Capital was granted a licence to operate securities and derivatives training, as well as investment advisory services, and has operated these businesses since.
