Barclays hires Darren Campili as Vice Chairman, Healthcare Banking

Barclays today announces the appointment of Darren Campili as Vice Chairman in Healthcare Banking. Darren, who will start towards the end of the summer, will be based in London and will report to Rick Landgarten, Global Head of Healthcare and Real Estate Groups, and Reid Marsh, Head of Banking Europe and the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

He will focus on expanding Barclays’ relationships with European life sciences clients by providing world class advice and capital raising services.

Mr Campili is one of Europe’s preeminent advisors to European life sciences companies and brings with him over twenty years of experience and a wealth of client relationships. He has spent the last 12 years at Deutsche Bank, based in both New York and London. Most recently he was Global Head of Healthcare Banking, and before that he led the Healthcare Group in EMEA.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, Darren was a Senior Vice President within Novartis’ Consumer Division, and before that he was part of the Healthcare Group at CSFB. He has advised on a number of significant transactions, including Stada’s sale to Bain and Cinven, Shire’s acquisitions of Baxalta, Dyax and Movetis, Bayer’s acquisition of Algeta, and Takeda’s acquisition of Nycomed.

In 2018, Barclays has hired nine Managing Directors to its EME Banking business. According to Dealogic data, Barclays ended H1 2018 ranked as the #4 Investment Bank in EME with a record EME fee share of 5.1%.
