Barclays makes two senior appointments for new team to service UK investment companies
Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank today announces the creation of a new team that will deliver equity markets products and services to investment company clients in the UK.
The Barclays team will incorporate both Investment Banking and Global Markets colleagues. Dion Di Miceli has joined Barclays UK Corporate Broking team to lead Investment Banking coverage of investment companies. Andrew Davies joins Barclays in June to lead the Equity Sales activity for investment company clients.
Dion and Andrew will co-lead the new investment companies team, and will work closely with Sean McPherson, who joined Barclays last year to lead equity trading of investment companies.
Dion is an experienced corporate adviser to UK investment companies, with 20-years’ experience. He has led dozes of main market IPOs in the UK and has advised the boards of several FTSE-250 companies across a broad range of corporate transactions. Dion joins Barclays from Gravis Capital Management, where he spent the past six years, and was most recently Head of Investment Companies, providing strategic and corporate advice to fund portfolio managers and the boards of client funds to facilitate the growth of the investment companies managed by Gravis. Prior to Gravis, Dion spent 10 years at Cenkos Securities where he advised on a broad range of transactions, including IPOs, secondary issuance, reconstructions, mergers, tender offers and liquidations. He will report to Robert Mayhew, Head of Corporate Broking.
Andrew has significant experience in the investment companies sector and strong relationships with both investors and boards. He joins Barclays from Liberum Capital, where he has spent the past seven years, most recently as Head of Alternative Funds Sales. At Liberum, Andrew lead multiple IPOs and secondary fund raises for listed fund clients including renewable infrastructure, growth capital, private equity and real estate. Prior to Liberum, Andrew was Head of Fund Sales at Edmond de Rothschild Securities, and before that he spent five years at Cenkos Securities in its institutional sales team covering investment company clients. He will report to Anita Tanna, Head of EMEA Equity Sales.
Sean has 13 years’ experience in the investment companies sector. He joined Barclays in 2021 having previously traded investment companies at J.P. Morgan and Peel Hunt.
Alisdair Gayne, Head of UK Investment Banking, commented: “Investing in areas where we see opportunities to expand our capabilities is key a part of the growth strategy for the Corporate and Investment Bank. Investment companies present an exciting opportunity, and the strength of experience of Dion, Andrew and Sean, combined with our existing comprehensive banking and markets platform in the UK will enable us to provide these clients with integrated and differentiated advice and distribution.”
Anita Tanna, Head of EMEA Equity Sales, commented: “Investment companies are an important source of capital for a broad range of sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, renewable and healthcare and life sciences companies. We see a significant opportunity to expand our capabilities in the UK by offering advisory, underwriting, sales and trading services to clients in the UK investment companies sector, and are delighted to welcome Dion and Andrew to our team.”
