Robert Swaak to join Barclays UK Board as Non-Executive Director

Barclays Bank UK PLC is today announcing the appointment of Robert Swaak as Non Executive Director to its Board. As part of Board succession planning, Mr Swaak will, subject to regulatory approval, assume the role of Barclays Bank UK PLC Board Audit Committee Chair from March 2026.

Mr Swaak brings extensive international financial expertise and regulatory knowledge in both retail and commercial banking, combined with a significant leadership and strategic transformation experience built over an executive career spanning 36 years. A former auditor, he has most recently served as the CEO of ABN AMRO N.V, stepping down after a 5-year tenure. Prior to ABN AMRO, he held several senior leadership roles at PwC, including Global Relationship Partner, Vice Chairman Global Clients & Markets and CEO of PwC in The Netherlands. Mr Swaak also serves as both a member and chair of various Management and Supervisory Boards of industry bodies and Foundations across a range of sectors in The Netherlands.
