COVID-19 relief in the UK
In the UK, we’re working with selected charity partners that are providing critical COVID-19 relief services in the communities where Barclays has a presence. Our donations will support these trusted partners, who are already mobilised on the ground, to provide help to vulnerable people hardest hit by the crisis and to those on the frontline of the response.
Across the UK, they are meeting the immediate needs of low-income families, those facing financial hardship, isolated elderly people, NHS staff and key workers.
Age UK provides a lifeline to older people both over the phone and in communities, with essential support, such as emergency food supplies, shopping support and prescription collections. Barclays’ funding will ensure that Age UK can continue to be there for older people by providing telephone advice and friendship services as well as helping local Age UK’s provide support in communities across the UK.
Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation. Barclays’ funding will provide cash grants to those most impacted by COVID-19 and will help run vital Food On Our Doorstep (FOOD) Clubs. Barclays volunteers will provide befriending to those in need and support Family Actions’ FOOD Clubs.
The Felix Project
The Felix Project feeds local communities in London by rescuing surplus food from the food industry and delivering it to over 350 frontline charities and schools. Barclays funding will contribute to The Felix Project’s relief efforts as they face increased demand for their food distribution services from 30,000 to 100,000 meals per day during the crisis.
