Established Estate Agency expands into East Grinstead

25 July 2018

Greenaway Residential, a well-established Sussex Estate Agency has expanded into East Grinstead taking over the former kitchen business premises in London Road.

In 1992 Darren Greenaway was going through the process of buying a house but was disappointed in the service he received from his agent he thought he could do the job better. Three days after starting his new career he wondered if he had made the right career choice as Black Wednesday unfolded around him.

Not to be deterred he pushed on and after nearly six months finally sold his first house.  Seven years later and after working up to a Senior Branch Manager within the corporate Estate Agency, he decided to go alone setting up Greenaway & Partners.  After buying out the two partners the company rebranded as Greenaway Residential.

After operating successfully in Crawley for eighteen years Darren was looking to expand and identified East Grinstead as having great growth potential and a client base likely to value the exceptional service that his team provides.

The property has been completely redeveloped to provide an ideal environment for house hunters and the business will have a staff of six people plus a financial adviser and will specialise in residential property sales and lettings.

Darren said: “We have a strongly defined culture which always has our customer’s interests at heart. My beliefs are always to have integrity, be truthful and look after the customer; the customer will then look after the business. This has stood me in good stead over the years.

There are suggestions that with the growth of online only estate agents the ‘clicks and mortar’ outlets will reduce but I don’t buy this at all.  We can offer a level of expertise, service and local knowledge that they struggle to compete with. I am so confident that I have plans to open a further five outlets in Sussex.”

The new East Grinstead premises was formally opened by the MP for Mid Sussex Sir Nicholas Soames.

Barclays provided financial support for the business expansion and Colin Hale, Barclays Business Manager, who put the funding in place, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to support Darren in securing his East Grinstead premises and we’re very proud to be associated with the next stage of his ambitious growth plans.”

Darren continued: “Colin and the whole team at Barclays have been very supportive and so easy to deal with. Their support has instrumental in this next stage of the business development, without it I would have really struggled to achieve the goal.”
