Sir Gerry Grimstone
Sir Gerry Grimstone has been a member of the Board since 2016. Sir Gerry is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Barclays Bank PLC.
He is also Chairman of Standard Life Aberdeen plc, one of the UK’s largest savings and investments businesses and Chairman of the Government’s Public Service Leadership Taskforce which will advise on improving productivity and outcomes across public services. Sir Gerry is an independent non-executive board member of Deloitte NWE LLP, where he represents the public interest and the Board Adviser to the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.
Within the UK public sector, he is the lead non-executive on the board of the Ministry of Defence and is a member of HM Treasury's Financial Services Trade and Investment Board. From 2012-2015, Sir Gerry served as Chairman of TheCityUK, the representative body for the financial and professional services industry in the UK.
Sir Gerry has held a number of board appointments in the public and private sectors and has served as one of the UK’s Business Ambassadors. He was previously a senior investment banker at Schroders and ran businesses in London, New York and Asia Pacific. He specialised in mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising for major companies worldwide. Prior to that, he was an official in HM Treasury, where he was responsible for privatisation and policy towards state-owned enterprises.
