Barclays and the Premier League
Our Premier League history
Barclays has been an important partner to the Premier League, since 2001/02, initially as the title sponsor and now as the Official Banking Partner. Our latest partnership takes the association between the two organisations to over 20 years. During this time, the Premier League has grown to become a global phenomenon as the most successful football league in the world, whilst supporting many of our businesses around the UK.
The growth of the Premier League has helped bring us to today where we’re at the tipping point of a great new opportunity – making football available for everyone.
Rewarding Fans
We believe in creating opportunities with football and rewarding fans.
In 2016, after one of the most incredible seasons in recent memory, we gave a lifelong Leicester City fan the chance to present the Premier League trophy to triumphant captain, Wes Morgan.
Creating memorable moments
We care about inspiring the next generation of football fans. That’s why we offer selected young fans the opportunity to be a mascot. See what it meant for a young Hornets fan to be a Watford mascot and meet his favourite player, Troy Deeney.

New membership scheme for sports fans
In 2019, Barclays and Fortress GB announced a partnership to launch multi-functional membership cards that drive fan engagement for sports clubs. Access, loyalty, insights and payment capabilities have been combined into one platform for the first time. The collaboration involves a tie-up between one of the nation’s largest banks and a sports technology company with clients in sports leagues around the world.
