Since 2023, Barclays are the Official Banking Partner of Wimbledon, uniting two iconic British institutions, whilst supporting the Wimbledon Foundation,with the largest annual partner donation to create iniatives across the UK and US. This has enabled the roll out of ‘Set for Success’ an upskilling programme helping young people from underserved communities through the power of sport.

In 2024, we became the Official Parks and Participation Partner of the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) to get 150,000 more people playing tennis across Great Britain, enabling more people to access tennis within their local communities.

Meet Frances Tiafoe: Our Barclays Tennis Ambassador

Frances Tiafoe demonstrates the importance of increasing the accessibility of sport. He is the son of Sierra Leonean immigrants in Hyattsville, Maryland, and through inspiring partnerships and support has become a Grand Slam semi-finalist and Top 10 (highest ranking) player.

Set for Success: providing young people with leadership skills

Wimbledon Foundation's Set for Success programme, in partnership with Barclays, delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, provides young people from underserved communities across the UK with the opportunity to develop valuable life and leadership skills, through mentoring sessions with inspirational athletes.

The intensive youth leadership initiative aims to make a fundamental difference to the lives of young people facing an identified range of challenges.The programme supports young people to improve their employability skills and their positive social engagement, developing their confidence, aspirations, resilience and self-esteem. 

 

Bringing tennis to 150,000 more people

Barclays and the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) share the ambition of breaking down barriers to sport and bringing grassroots tennis to local communities – particularly, those hardest to reach. Together, we aim to give people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds a welcoming and accessible opportunity to play tennis in their local parks, by providing the tennis equipment and instruction to play.

Barclays has a strong heritage in football. At the elite level, we’ve partnered with the Premier League for over 23 years and we’ve been proud to be the first title sponsor of the Women’s Super League since 2019, – now in our fifth season.

We’re proud to continue our sponsorship of the top league in Women’s Football and be title sponsor of the Barclays Women’s Super League. We've invested £50 million into women’s football over the last 5 years,the biggest investment into women’s sport in the UK by a brand.

            

Barclays Girls' Football Schools Partnerships

Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnerships was established to ensure girls in England have equal access to football in schools. Nearly 20,000 schools now offer football for girls through the programme, an increase of nearly 17,000 schools since the programme began.

Barclays Community Football Fund

The Barclays Community Football Fund helps to reduce inequalities in football, with grants, training, and exclusive ticketing offers made available to groups that wish to start offering football, or expand their existing programmes to new, underrepresented audiences. The fund has distributed over £2.7m of grants, supporting more than 3,500 local community sports groups to offer more football within their communities, particularly focusing on underrepresented groups. The grants have positively impacted over 400,000 young people.

    We've been a major sponsor of the Premier League for over 20 years, currently as the Official Banking Partner and title sponsor of the Women’s Super League since 2019/20 – as well as being the first title sponsor of the Women’s Championship from the 2022/23 season. As the only brand to have sponsored both the Women's and Men's leagues, we are proud to be the biggest-ever brand sponsor of women's sport in the UK. Alongside our support at an elite level we are helping to make sure girls in England have equal access to football in school by 2024 through the Barclays Girls' Football School Partnerships (BGFSP) and In 2022, we launched the Barclays Community Football Fund (BCFF), offering grants to local football teams who need it most, to spend on making football more accessible to underrepresented groups.

    Game, set, match. Barclays are the Official Banking Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon – an impactful partnership that unites two iconic British institutions.

    The beginnings of this banking partnership date back to the 1960s, when Barclays built a sub-branch directly below Wimbledon’s Centre Court. A new chapter of the partnership began in 2023, with Barclays and Wimbledon joining forces to celebrate the very best of tennis, while continuing to create and champion opportunities for all through Barclays support of the Wimbledon Foundation, the official charity of the Club and The Championships.

    Barclays works closely with the Wimbledon Foundation to pursue their shared commitment of creating opportunities for more people to grow and thrive in their communities, using the power of sport to achieve this.

    To continue this ambition,, Barclays became the Official Parks and Participation Partner of the LTA in 2024. The partnership aims to give people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds a welcoming and accessible opportunity to play tennis in local parks.

    Through Barclays Free Park Tennis, Barclays Big Tennis Weekends, and Barclays Local Tennis Leagues, they aim to get 150,000 more people playing tennis more regularly.

  • The Donmar Warehouse

    Barclays is an Associate Sponsor of the Donmar Warehouse – a 250 seat subsidised theatre in the heart of London's West End

    The Donmar is a hot-house for talented new writers, for re-appraising European classics and for British and American drama and musical theatre.

    The theatre has an international standing, garnering critical acclaim at home and abroad and with a particular reputation for artistic excellence, presenting some of London's most memorable theatrical experiences and showcasing the talents of some of the country's finest actors, writers, directors and designers.

  • Sadler’s Wells

    Barclays is the Principal Supporting Partner of performing arts venue Sadler’s Wells. The partnership supports Sadler’s Wells’ ongoing mission to make and share dance that inspires us all by providing greater access to those who see dance as less accessible

    Recognised as the world’s number one venue dedicated to supporting international dance, Sadler’s Wells believes that dance has the power to change lives.  

     With Barclay’s investment we established a young person’s ticket scheme at Sadler’s Wells, offering 10,000 £10 tickets per annum for audiences aged 16-30. Barclays Dance Pass has connected over 20,000 16 to 30-year-olds with exclusive £10 ticket offers alongside quarterly events to bring dance lovers together.

    Over the next three years, we will expand our nationwide reach with the launch of a national learning programme ‘Barclays Dance Futures’ supporting:

    • Making Moves, a new national choreographic project, which aims to inspire thousands of young people in schools and youth groups. We launched our choreographic project, with 16 youth groups and 34 schools from all over the country taking part this academic year. Participants will create new dance works inspired by some of the world’s most exciting choreographers and have a chance to perform at Sadler's Wells. The four choreographers for the inaugural year are Alesandra Seutin, Dannielle “Rhimes” Lecointe, Jordan Douglas and Oona Doherty
    • The National Youth Dance Company which celebrated its 10th anniversary year in 2023 and an expanded programme of national workshop. The NYDC also reached new heights this year, with a highlight being a performance at Barclaycard presents Latitude Festival, where they were delighted to showcase the incredible work that could not happen without this partnership.

    Unparalleled sightlines for 17,732 welcome basketball fans to the action and audiences of up to 18,000 can be accommodated for musical or other performances. Professional hockey will soon be part of Barclays Center’s line-up when the New York Islanders move to the borough in 2015.

    Since its opening on September 28, 2012 with the first of eight consecutive sold out shows by JAY Z, Barclays Center has continued to host the world’s most renown performers, including Barbra Streisand, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Andrea Bocelli, Dave Matthews Band, Bruno Mars and Coldplay all topping the bill.
