The Barclays Climate Tech Escalator is a connected pathway dedicated to growing climate tech companies.

Barclays supports climate tech companies from idea to IPO. The Barclays Climate Tech Escalator supports scaling by providing tailored, dedicated support as the companies grow and helps them to harness the power of capital markets.

Through Barclays UK, early-stage climate tech companies receive support to realise an idea into a viable business, such as, through focused accelerator programmes, mentorship, and workshops.

Eagle Labs

Eagle Labs, a network across the UK of member businesses, partners, investors, corporates, mentors, and banking expertise. Eagle Labs helps by incubating, inspiring and educating UK founders, startups and scaleups. The Cambridge Eagle Labs primarily focuses on climate tech businesses and building the climate tech ecosystem in Cambridge.

Carbon13

Carbon13 aims to support businesses with the potential to remove up to 10million tonnes of CO2e per annum once they have scaled their solution. Powered by Barclays, the Carbon13 Venture Launchpad is a climate tech accelerator supporting early-stage climate tech ventures to work intensively on their carbon impact, investment readiness and go-to-market strategy.

High potential climate tech companies will benefit from a range of support through the Barclays ecosystem, including a tailored programme to support scale-up and investment to take them to the next level.

Unreasonable Impact

Unreasonable Impact is a partnership between Barclays and Unreasonable Group which focuses on scaling socially and environmentally impactful solutions that will help build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. The programme supports entrepreneurs at a pivotal stage of their growth journey to solve key challenges facing their business to help them rapidly scale. Barclays Climate Ventures

The Barclays Climate Ventures portfolio, led by Barclays’ Principal Investments team, has a mandate to invest up to £500m of our own capital into global climate tech start-ups by the end of 2027.

The Business Bank supports Technology businesses with a special focus on Climate Tech. The bank’s climate tech specialism brings together support for early-stage start-ups through Eagle Labs, banking and financing expertise via the Business Bank’s Technology and Creative Vertical and specialist support for fast growing companies through the High Growth and Entrepreneurs team.

Corporate Bank

The Corporate Bank offers banking solutions for climate tech companies in the UK as they scale and require more sophisticated financing solutions for their day-to-day operations and scale ambitions. These solutions include cash management, liquidity services and lending products applicable to the stage and growth of the company.

Private Bank & Wealth Management

Private Bank & Wealth Management supports climate tech companies in two ways - by managing the wealth of founders, allowing them to meet their professional and personal goals and by facilitating  investment opportunities in climate tech companies for ultra-high net worth clients.

Investment Bank

The Investment Bank supports advanced-stage climate tech companies to realise their growth ambitions via IPO, M&A, and other financing solutions. Barclays connects climate tech companies with specialist bankers who offer capital markets, M&A, ESG advisory, fixed income & equity products and corporate financing solutions. This connectivity enables innovative climate tech companies to obtain access to institutional capital markets, corporates, financial sponsors, public sector, and investors committed to sustainability.

CCU International

In November 2023, CCU International, the Edinburgh-based carbon capture technology company, first engaged with Barclays through the High Growth and Entrepreneurs team in the Business Bank. Since then, the company founders have been supported with networking opportunities and tailored financial solutions to help them reach their strategic goals.

Barclays has facilitated introductions to support access to funding and expert advice, as well as support through the Eagle Labs network. Barclays has helped CCU International to ensure the investment of the company’s resources has been efficient and the High Growth and Entrepreneurs team’s insights into market trends and financial planning have helped CCU International to make informed decisions to drive growth.
